The #BlackandHooded Scholarship originated in August of 2017 after a successful launch of the social media campaign and blackandhooded.com photo archive. This scholarship seeks to alleviate the financial burden that many graduate students, especially Black graduate students, face when pursuing post-secondary degrees. Through the generous donations of movement supporters and #BlackandHooded Merchandise sales, #BlackandHooded has awarded 12 scholarships to incoming black graduate students across the nation and across disciplines.

Amber C. Walker

Amber C. Walker is a multimedia journalist based in New York City. She covered K-12 Education for The Capital Times in Madison, WI before returning to journalism school in 2018 at New York University. Walker is expected to earned her degree journalism in 2019. Before joining the Cap Times staff, Walker taught high school English in Miami and served as the technical and editorial intern at Madison365, a digital media start-up focused on telling the stories of Madison's communities of color.
