The #BlackandHooded Scholarship originated in August of 2017 after a successful launch of the social media campaign and blackandhooded.com photo archive. This scholarship seeks to alleviate the financial burden that many graduate students, especially Black graduate students, face when pursuing post-secondary degrees. Through the generous donations of movement supporters and #BlackandHooded Merchandise sales, #BlackandHooded has awarded 12 scholarships to incoming black graduate students across the nation and across disciplines.

Yamani Rikia Vinson

Yamani Rikia Vinson-a first-generation college student with a passion for health equity and community service, is a first-year MHSA Candidate at the University of Michigan's School Of Public Health in the Department of Health Management and Policy. She is a recent graduate of Michigan State University, where she received her Bachelors in Psychology with a Minor in Spanish.
